As part of International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week 2026, Pure Earth will bring together voices from Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Brazil to share progress, lessons, and solutions advancing prevention across the region.
Every year, Pure Earth joins International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (ILPPW), a global opportunity to raise awareness of the risks of lead exposure and mobilize action to protect human health and the environment.
This year, under the World Health Organization’s theme, From Detection to Prevention, we want to focus the conversation on something essential: not only identifying risks, but also the solutions already taking shape and the partnerships needed to take them further.
That is why, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. ET, Pure Earth will host the regional webinar “Latin America United Against Lead: Experiences to Protect Health and the Environment.”
The public, 75-minute event will bring together voices from Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Brazil in a regional conversation held in Spanish, with simultaneous interpretation into English and Portuguese.
Lead exposure remains a public-health and environmental challenge that requires coordinated responses. Yet Latin America has valuable experiences that show progress is possible: generating evidence, strengthening institutional capacity, working with productive sectors and communities, and turning knowledge into concrete prevention measures.
The webinar will be a connected conversation showing how different actors and territories are moving from detecting risks to taking action.
Through a dialogue among country leaders and invited experts, participants will learn about experiences related to preventing lead exposure in workplaces, communities, and homes; strengthening local capacity; generating information for decision-making; and working collaboratively with governments, academia, organizations, communities, and the private sector.
These experiences reflect a shared conviction: protecting children from lead exposure also means protecting their families, their communities, and the future of our countries.
Preventing lead exposure is not the responsibility of any one sector. It requires evidence, public leadership, business commitment, academic knowledge, and community participation. Pure Earth works to connect these capacities and turn them into solutions that respond to the realities of each territory.
Through this webinar, we aim to highlight regional progress, foster learning across countries, and open new opportunities for collaboration. The conversation will seek to inspire concrete commitments that can lead to follow-up action and help ensure that more people can live and grow in healthier environments.
Join this regional conversation and become part of the solutions Latin America is building to prevent lead exposure.
